Position Overview

Performs tasks involving physical labor at construction projects, including operating hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, erecting scaffolding, and removing waste materials.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects.
  • Unload, carry, place, and secure concrete reinforcing steel and accessories with tie wire.
  • Manually excavate and fill trenches and ditches.
  • Handle and store materials.
  • Place and finish concrete using hand and power tools, including trowel machines.
  • Prepare for concrete pours by installing embedded items and cleaning equipment.
  • Carry out concrete patching, repairing, and finishing.
  • Construct built‑in or prefabricated wooden forms according to specifications for molding concrete structures.
  • Act as gate attendant to control jobsite entry and egress.
  • Assist in demolishing activities.
  • Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators, and tampers.
  • Operate electrically powered tools.
  • Signal operators to guide equipment movement and provide assistance.
  • Operate large powered machinery and equipment.
  • Follow all safety rules.
Education and Training
  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • 6 months to one year of construction experience.
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy construction.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to the work schedule.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, stand for long periods, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to maintain punctuality and attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
