Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Wm. Michael Barnes ’64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISEN) in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for two tenured full professor positions.

The ISEN department has nationally recognized strengths spanning four research fields:
Advanced Manufacturing, Data Science, Human and Health Systems Engineering (Human Factors and Ergonomics), and Operations Research. The department comprises 31 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 15 teaching-focused faculty, many of whom hold distinguished national and international honors, including the Frank and Lillian Gilbreth Industrial Engineering Award, the Albert G. Holzman Distinguished Educator Award, Fellow status in IISE, HFES, SME, ASME, and ASEE, and leadership roles such as Editors-in-Chief of major scholarly journals.

The ISEN student population is comprised of 800 undergraduate students (sophomore to senior level) and 200 graduate students. More information about ISEN is available at https://engineering.tamu.edu/industrial .

We welcome outstanding candidates across all major areas of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Particularly, those whose expertise advances the intersection of data science and engineering, artificial intelligence, and broader departmental themes are encouraged to apply. Exceptional candidates will be considered for the Liollio Chair.

Successful candidates are expected to provide intellectual leadership, strengthen interdisciplinary collaborations, and contribute significantly to the department’s research and educational missions. The candidate will also play a role in teaching and curricular development. Responsibilities also include advising and mentoring graduate students, developing and sustaining an independent externally funded research program, participating actively in departmental governance and service, and contributing to the broader profession.

This is a 9-month academic appointment, with the possibility of additional summer support contingent upon need and availability of funds. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2027.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in industrial and systems engineering, computer science, computer engineering, statistics, or a related engineering or science discipline. Applicants must demonstrate strong evidence of excellence in research, teaching, and service appropriate to rank, as well as the ability to contribute to the department’s strategic priorities.

Equal Opportunity/Veterans/Disability Employer.
The University is aware that attracting and retaining exceptional faculty often depends on meeting the needs of two careers and therefore has a Dual Career Program .
