As a key member of the Engineering Team, you will play a vital role in designing, configuring, and analyzing engineering solutions and deliverables for primarily electric distribution facilities serving various utility clients. Key deliverables include master plan layouts for large subdivisions, equipment selection and placement for commercial and residential developments, and bore profiles for horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and other boring methods.
Key Responsibilities- Execute underground distribution project designs using CAD software, including AutoCAD (various versions), Micro Station, and other industry-standard tools
- Apply engineering principles to review and analyze deliverables for 120V to 35kV distribution projects
- Collaborate with utility clients and internal project teams to ensure deliverables meet client specifications and adhere to established engineering standards and processes
- Review designs for compliance with permitting authorities, National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), Rural Utilities Service (RUS) guidelines, and client standards
- Support the timely execution of assigned electrical distribution projects while maintaining budgets and high-quality standards
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring consistency, accuracy, reliability, and accountability in all work products
- Perform analysis to identify optimal design solutions and effectively communicate recommendations to the engineering team
- Produce staking sheets using client-specified or industry-standard software
- Coordinate with permitting authorities to facilitate prompt approval of necessary permits
- Assist with special projects and other duties as needed
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in electrical distribution design
- Strong knowledge of the design and operation of underground distribution facilities (120V through 35kV)
- Familiarity with applicable codes, permitting requirements, and their application to distribution design
- Understanding of underground distribution equipment, construction methods, easements, rights-of-way, and permitting processes
- Previous project management experience is a plus, including developing, tracking, and communicating timelines to ensure on-time and on-budget completion
- Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, management, and clients
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative, all-hands-on-deck approach
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent experience/certification)
