Certified Pharmacy Technician
As a Pharmacy Technician for Gold Star Pharmacy, you do more than just work a pharmacy assembly line. You make a difference where it matters most, in the lives of people under medical care. If you want to do meaningful work in a positive and friendly environment, keep reading.
Primary Duties- Complete compounding record and other pharmacy records as indicated.
- Prepare labels for sterile admixture and places with the respective compounding record.
- Weigh, measure and mix raw material ingredients, monitor agitation, heating and cooling temperatures, and other parameters to ensure finished batches of creams, gels, capsules and liquids meet specifications.
- Transfer materials into properly labeled, safety approved containers.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and complete all required documentation to maintain compliance with USP 797 (non-sterile compounding) and company Quality System.
- Prepare labels and picks, and packages prepackaged and unit dose drugs in accordance with the dispensing order (pick-list).
- Prepare and generate batch for preparation of non-sterile mixtures.
- Organize assigned workload to facilitate its accomplishments.
- Ensure the compounding room and related equipment are cleaned and maintained per organizational policy and procedure.
- Participate with the pharmacist and pharmacy manager in monitoring/maintaining drug inventories and preparing orders for drugs and related supplies.
- Perform and record various quality control activities including end product sterility testing and media fill.
- Report all “positive” results to the pharmacy management immediately.
- Participate in department QA activities as requested.
- May operate filling equipment and help in other areas as needed.
- Address and solve problems that affect and improve compounding and filling quality.
- Use good time management; perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Be supportive of all company regulations while using the prescribed personal protective gear including gloves, mask, gown, etc. as required by the materials handled and company policy.
- Perform other duties as required, which includes, but in not limited to, assisting other departments as needed in various capacities.
- Pharmacy technician working in the compounding lab within the compounding department of Gold Star Pharmacy.
- Use established criteria and guidelines, the pharmacy technician receives and processes compounded medications.
- Resolve issues and complaints in a timely manner.
- Operate automated dispensing machinery
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Handles inbound phone requests and gathers member data to provide information for Pharmacist consultations
- Data Entry as needed
- Work cooperatively with fellow employees, supervisory and management personnel.
- Must be able to handle all aspects of non-sterile compounding, work in an environment with a wide variety of raw materials and cleaning solutions.
- Good personal hygiene is a requirement.
- Must have good basic math skills.
- Have a cooperative attitude with fellow employees.
- Utilize and develop techniques and processes that improve efficiency.
- Current Texas Pharmacy Technician license or National Pharmacy Technician Certification is required
- 1 - 3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred
