The Perkiomen Valley School District is seeking a HVAC Technician, Skilled Maintenance worker. Thisis a full-time, 12-month position available immediately.
Position DescriptionUnder the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related mechanical systems throughout the district. This position ensures that all HVAC systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably to support a healthy, comfortable, and compliant learning and working environment for students and staff.

Terms of Employment- Full-time; 12 months
- Salary and benefits in accordance with terms of Maintenance, Custodial, and Food Services collective bargaining agreement. The minimum starting hourly rate is $29.06/hour with full benefits (medical, dental, and vision) for the school year.
Working knowledge of HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration, and energy management systems. Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical components related to HVAC equipment. Knowledge of applicable safety standards, codes, and regulations, including OSHA requirements. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and work orders. Skill in the use of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a facilities team. Effective communication skills to interact professionally with administrators, staff, students, and contractors. Ability to prioritize work orders, respond to emergencies, and meet operational deadlines.
- Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, rooftop units, exhaust systems, and related controls.
- Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, district schedules, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor system performance, identify inefficiencies, and recommend repairs or upgrades to improve reliability and energy efficiency.
- Respond to work orders and emergency service calls in a timely and professional manner to ensure building safety and occupant comfort.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts usage.
- Coordinate and work collaboratively with other maintenance staff, custodial personnel, administrators, and outside contractors.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and district procedures while performing all assigned duties.
- Assist with seasonal changeovers and district-wide maintenance projects as assigned.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the Maintenance Department.
- Projects a positive image and actively models the Mission, Values, and Operating Principles of the district.
- Performs all other responsibilities or duties as may be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisors and/or Director of Operations.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Formal vocational or technical training in HVAC, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years professional experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair, preferably in a commercial, institutional, or school setting
- Experience with boilers, chillers, rooftop units, air handlers, pneumatic and/or digital controls preferred
