Overview

Risk Manager responsible for the loss prevention and patient safety program at Baptist Memorial Health Care. Acts as a resource to all professional, hospital, and medical staff, coordinating investigations of claims, reviewing incidents, and recommending corrective action to enhance patient safety.

• Participates in loss prevention and patient safety initiatives, coordinating investigations of potential claims and lawsuits through evidence gathering, interviews, and medical record review.
• Reviews unusual occurrence reports, investigates further if indicated, and recommends corrective action in consultation with the Director of Risk Management.
• Trends incidents, occurrences, claims, and lawsuits, recommending corrective action and evaluating effectiveness.
• Identifies existing risk exposures, recommending control methods and evaluating effectiveness.
• Represents risk management and patient safety on relevant committees, providing leadership and guidance on management and operational issues.
• Coordinates response to discovery devices in lawsuits as indicated or requested.
• Participates in professional activities, associations, and certifications related to risk management and patient safety.
• Completes assigned goals.
