SUMMARY OF POSITIONResponsible for supervising a team of Membership Associates and assist with the implementation and execution of sales efforts in order to meet team and individual goals in conjunction with the Membership Director/Center Director.
PURPOSE OF POSITIONThis position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The full‑time Membership Coordinator is a vital part of the leadership team delivering the highest quality service to all members and guests through relationship building, professionalism, and an extensive knowledge of the YMCA products and services. They anticipate member needs and interests and recommend programs and services appropriately to maximize engagement and retention of members.
The Coordinator is responsible for all day‑to‑day functions of the Welcome Center and Customer Service efforts, supervising a team of Membership Associates and assisting with sales execution to meet goals.
- Supports Center leadership in routine operations of Membership Department and Center Operations.
- Greets members and guests professionally.
- Executes membership strategies that support recruitment and retention.
- Contacts members and potential members via phone, email and in‑branch conversations to build relationships and grow membership sales.
- Assists in supervising and assessing team members, evaluating KPIs, providing coaching and helping develop customer service, sales and promotional skills.
- May train, assist and supervise staff in customer service, needs identification and new member recruitment.
- May assist new employees with on‑boarding processes.
- Will schedule and attend regular branch shifts.
- Ensures proper implementation of Welcome Center staff policies and procedures.
- Reviews and updates procedures and communicates changes to staff.
- Coordinates with Association Support Center on financial transactions.
- May perform other duties such as financial reconciliation, shift close‑outs and administrative tasks.
- Spanish fluency is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
- Two or more years of business management, sales or customer service experience with supervisory responsibilities preferred.
- Understanding of basic accounting concepts and applications including cash reconciliation, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Experience with standard business software and office machines.
Typical hours for this full‑time position are 8:00 am‑5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The facility is open seven days a week and hours may vary. Overtime and weekends may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Employee must use a computer for extended periods and communicate via computer and phone/smart device.

- Employee may occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust.
