General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific store area and for overall operations when acting as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening/closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining merchandise presentation, and executing company operational processes.

Essential Functions
  • Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
    • Lead by example on safety practices and maintain high awareness on the sales floor.
    • Control building security, including entrance/exit, EAS devices, cash office, and secure carrier pick‑ups.
    • Remove clutter, enforce clear egress, and manage customer safety, accident reporting, and emergency procedures.
    • Test fire alarm systems and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
  • Customer Service:
    • Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy.
    • Use company recognition programs to acknowledge associate contributions.
  • Personal and Store Brand:
    • Represent and support the company brand and dress code at all times.
    • Maintain a clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised store environment.
    • Perform daily trash removal.
  • Generalandising:
    • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.
    • Handle merchandise receiving, processing, and placement on the sales floor.
    • Keep stockrooms clean, organized, and secure.
    • Support back‑stock and promotional signing as needed.
  • Loss Prevention:
    • Follow the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong presence on the sales floor.
    • Protect confidential, cash, and merchandise information.
    • Maintain Public View Monitor (PVM) system and conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Front‑End Supervision and Operations:
    • Execute best practices to maximize productivity and training associates on registers.
    • Control the line, manage break schedules, and ensure equipment and supplies are functional.
    • Teach and enforce “Scan and Bag” best practice.
  • Fitting Rooms:
    • Maintain cleanliness and audit garment tags.
    • Ensure go‑back compliance and proper ticketing of returned merchandise.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Execute cash pulls, bank deposits, and payroll administration.
    • Follow refund, purchase, and register policies.
    • Assist with other store manager‑assigned duties.
  • Competencies:
    • Managing work processes, business acumen, planning, building talent, collaboration, leading by example, effective communication, accountability, and execution.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
  • Basic mathematical calculation skills used in retail environments.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of work time.
  • Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, stoop, and occasionally push/pull more than 25 lbs.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts may require pushing/pulling more than 20 lbs.
