Position Overview

This position is accountable for providing personnel and management support services in regard to payroll, employee files, personnel actions, timekeeping records, employee insurance, employee leaves, retirement counseling, and related documents, seasonal hiring programs, and other related personnel assistance.

Essential Functions
  • Processes all personnel forms, attendance records and payrolls in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Supervises staff to ensure competent performance resulting in accurate and timely completion of duties.
  • Advises employees concerning retirement, deferred compensation, and insurance benefits.
  • Ensures all recurring and non-recurring reports are prepared and processed in a timely manner.
  • Administers and/or implements various fund drives and special events established by or departmentally sponsored.
  • Screens walk-in applicants concerning employment opportunities in a professional manner while adhering to policies and laws.
  • Provides orientation of all new employees which involves benefit talks, setting up eye screens and pre-employment physicals where applicable, in a timely and complete manner.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree majoring in human resources, business administration or a related field PLUS two years of personnel related experience, OR eight years of personnel related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisor experience.
  • Payroll related work experience.
  • Ability to perform job duties independently and with a minimum guidance/supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
