Quality Assurance Analyst
The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for executing both routine and non-routine inspection and testing activities to determine the acceptability of printed and laser‑perforated tipping materials based on established specifications and regulatory standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining Quality Assurance integrity throughout the manufacturing process, including raw material inspection, in-process verification, and final product release.
The position supports the release of printed materials into finished goods inventory and oversees laser preparation for shrink‑wrapping compliant product. The analyst serves as a key Quality Assurance resource for production teams, ensuring product consistency, documentation accuracy, and adherence to safety and quality systems.
Location: Colonial Heights, VA
Pay Rate: $23/hour (commensurate with experience)
Shift
Schedule:
Rotating shifts – 7:00am–3:00pm, 3:00pm–11:00pm, 11:00pm–7:00am
- Conduct and document laboratory and production‑floor tests on printed and perforated paper products in accordance with approved test plans and Quality Assurance protocols.
- Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections, verifying basis weight, ink weight, opacity, print registration, print‑to‑slit accuracy, width, and overall dimensional compliance.
- Act as a frontline Quality Assurance partner to production and supervisory teams by communicating inspection results and supporting timely resolution of quality deviations.
- Collaborate with QA Management to recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance laboratory efficiency, data accuracy, and product consistency.
- Accurately enter, maintain, and verify test results, pallet data, and inspection records within internal business and inventory management systems.
- Review pallet release documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to authorizing shrink‑wrapping and shipment.
- Approve or reject finished goods based on verified compliance with internal specifications and Quality Assurance standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in Quality Assurance documentation, recordkeeping, and strict adherence to written procedures and work instructions.
- Proficiency with data entry, partial pallet closures, and printing bobbin and pallet labels within enterprise systems.
- Hands‑on experience supporting QA operations in a printing or paper manufacturing environment.
- Skilled in the operation, calibration, and documentation of laboratory and inspection equipment, including:
- Spectrophotometer, Mettler Balance, Opacimeter, Nikon CCM, Nikon VMA
2520 - Headspace Gas Chromatograph (startup, shutdown, autosampler loading, documentation)
- Sutherland Rub Tester, Borgwaldt A-15, Comparator, Graticule, Light Booths, EDI Bar Printers
- Spectrophotometer, Mettler Balance, Opacimeter, Nikon CCM, Nikon VMA
- Experience performing laser laboratory startup and shutdown procedures.
- Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and meet production timelines in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and standard office and laboratory equipment.
- Consistent compliance with PPE, safety policies, and quality system requirements.
- Fast‑paced manufacturing environment with intermittent periods of downtime.
- Three scheduled 30‑minute breaks per shift.
- Overtime opportunities available based on production demands.
