Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a healthcare organization in Colorado Springs, Colorado for a 4-week Contract assignment. This hybrid role supports day-to-day payables activity in a high-volume setting and is well suited to someone who brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to stay organized under deadlines. The position works closely with the finance team to keep invoice processing, payment activity, and account reconciliation on track while maintaining accuracy across multiple entities.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee incoming invoices from assigned accounts and ensure each item is reviewed promptly for proper handling.

- Record and classify invoices, confirm supporting documentation is complete, and verify details before processing.

- Monitor accounts payable information entered into financial systems and help maintain accurate records during ongoing platform-related activities.

- Track credit card charges, recurring debits, and other nonstandard payment activity through organized logs and documentation.

- Execute payment processing, including ACH activity and check runs, according to established direction and timelines.

- Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies to support timely resolution.

- Assist with bank reconciliations and contribute to month-end close tasks related to payables.

- Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve invoice issues, obtain missing details, and support smooth payment operations.

- Update accounts payable procedures and provide support for finance-led projects as needed. Requirements - At least 3 years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting function.

- Demonstrated ability to code invoices accurately and manage payment workflows in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience with ACH processing, check runs, and general accounts payable controls.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to work comfortably with spreadsheets and transaction data.

- Familiarity with ERP or accounting platforms such as Net Suite or Sage Intacct is strongly preferred.

- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy when handling financial information.

- Ability to work independently, prioritize a high volume of transactions, and maintain confidentiality in a detail-focused setting.
