Salary / Pay RangeGenerally starting at $73,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary
We are seeking a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Biochemistry with demonstrated experience working with undergraduate and graduate students (master's level). The candidate will be expected to establish a productive research program in biochemistry, to secure internal and external funding, and to mentor students. The person filling this position will be responsible for teaching core and upper‑division biochemistry lecture courses (such as, but not limited to, Biochemistry I and Biochemistry II) and newly developed courses that fit department needs and the research and teaching interests of the person hired.
Service activities to the department, the college, and the campus will be expected.
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching biochemistry lecture and/or laboratory courses (in‑person and possibly online) with other courses possible.
- Establishing a productive research program in the field of biochemistry, or a closely related field, including publishing and disseminating research results.
- Securing internal and external funding for research.
- Mentoring and supervising undergraduate and graduate research students.
- Engaging in service activities to the department, the college, and the campus.
- Standard teaching load is 15 contact hours per 9‑month academic year. The normal workload for this position is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service.
- PhD in Biochemistry or a closely related field is required.
- Post‑doctoral training of at least 1 year is required.
- Strong teaching aptitude is preferred.
- The ability to establish and maintain a productive research program is preferred.
