The Department of User Experience at the Kraemer Family Library offers a frontline assistant role. You will support daily library operations, oversee student assistants, and collaborate to enhance the overall guest experience.
Salary Range$38,329 – $49,457 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is Non‑Exempt under the FLSA.
Work LocationOn‑site at the Kraemer Family Library, University of Colorado Colorado Springs.

- Manage hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, evaluation, and promotion of library student assistants.
- Assist with billing processes, including fines and patron billing for overdue reserves and lost items.
- Support the Reserves and Equipment collections.
- Ensure the library space welcomes all UCCS community members.
- Assist with building opening and closing schedules.
- Help with shelving, stack maintenance, and shifting projects as directed.
- Respond to security situations, including patron disturbances and building alarms.
- Submit building‑related work orders for maintenance, functionality, or cleanliness issues.
- Communicate work orders to User Experience staff and the library team.
- Provide excellent guest service at the library assistance desk.
- Assist with circulation and handling of library materials.
- Interpret and explain library rules, policies, and procedures to users.
- Authorize exceptions to circulation policies or assessed fines.
- Supervise student employees to ensure quality user experience.
- Assist print and electronic course reserves and verify copyright compliance.
- Report to the Director of UX and raise issues in a timely manner.
- Participate in special departmental projects.
- Serve on committees, task forces, and teams as directed.
- Priority for applications submitted by January 9, 2026; the posting remains open until January 18, 2026.

Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or four years of library experience required.
- Prior library work experience required.
- Completed library science coursework preferred.
- Experience scheduling, supervising, and training student employees preferred.
