Position DetailOne position available at a job grade level of Substation Technician I through Journey Level (T6), based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Hiring Wage Range- Journey Level Substation Technician: $64.58
- Substation Technician IV: $58.92 – $61.68
- Substation Technician III: $53.79 – $56.29
- Substation Technician II: $49.14 – $51.41
- Substation Technician I: $44.92 – $46.97
- Maintain all components associated with the efficient operation of assigned substations, both energized and de‑energized.
- Assist with supervision and training of others in construction and maintenance of electrical equipment in substations and maintenance of the substation yard.
- Carry out work order assignments, interpret prints, and prepare daily time sheets, material tickets, and field and inspection reports as required.
- Serve as lead technician and assist in directing crew work, planning and laying out specific work assignments.
- Maintain a first‑aid card and the ability to perform first aid.
- Ensure observance of safety rules by all co‑workers.
- Maintain a Chauffeur or Class A driver’s license and operate automotive equipment.
- Set up safe clearance with dispatchers and operating personnel.
- Assist supervising crew at specific locations under direction from senior or foreman level substation technician.
- Appraise condition of substation equipment and advise relevant personnel of any defects.
- Promptly restore service during outages.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in ready‑working condition.
- Perform any other related work of equal or lesser skill within the capabilities of the individual.
- Adhere to company policies, programs, procedures and industry standards such as CIP, WECC, FERC, NERC, MRO and EEO laws.
- Maintain safety awareness and comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures.

- Meet continuous service obligations to customers, ensuring reliable performance.
- Perform any related duties as assigned.
Education/Training and Experience
- Six (6) years of combined education and experience in the electrical and electronic field, including an associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- Four (4) years of practical experience in maintenance of industrial electrical‑electromechanical‑electronic control equipment:
- One (1) year or equivalent knowledge of electric power substation apparatus maintenance, including testing of power transformers, power circuit breakers, and electrical insulation systems.
- Three (3) years or equivalent knowledge of testing, calibrating and repairing protective relay devices and revenue meters.
- Must be capable of interpreting electrical schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams and control logic.
- JL Relay and/or meter certificate required.
- Ability to perform work following standard procedures.
- Judgment in making decisions and directing a group of workers.
- Knowledge of electric power industry practices.
- Capability to render practical first aid.
- Recommended by foreman, superintendent, and regional maintenance manager.
- Good health and physical ability for strenuous work.
- Willing and able to work extra and irregular hours, including storms, extreme temperatures, darkness, etc.
- Overnight travel required.
