At HDR, employees shape how electricity is generated, transmitted and delivered as global energy demands grow. This role sits within HDR Engineering’s Power Delivery team and involves leading the technical execution of high‑voltage substation projects.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop a partnership with the Project Manager, leading the technical team and execution of project deliverables.
- Develop and implement a project execution plan for the technical aspect of projects.
- Assign project tasks, provide technical guidance to team members, and mentor Project Engineers, EITs, or CADD/Designers.
- Support scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.
- Coordinate and perform quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables per HDR QMS requirements.
- Lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
- Work with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise.
- Assist with developing technical papers and presentations for industry conferences or events.
- Participate in project reviews as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- PE license.
- Minimum 8 years of technical design experience with high voltage electrical switchyard and substation projects up to 500 kV, including knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, and other applicable standards.
- Previous consulting firm experience.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with industry standard design software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms (Zoom, Webex, Teams, etc.).
- Strong conceptual, organizational, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Some travel may be required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years experience.
- Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on role.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Good leadership and organizational skills.

The expected compensation range for this position is $132,671 - $189,530 annually, depending on skills, experience, education, and location.
