Description:

HDR Engineering is looking for a Wastewater Engineer/Manager to join our growing team in Denver, Fort Collins, or Colorado Springs. This position involves assisting in the growth and development of the Wastewater Market Sector in Colorado, including wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, solids treatment, and master planning. Primary responsibilities include advancing business development strategies, pursuing new clients and projects, project management, technical leadership, and staff development.

Responsibilities also include scheduling work, providing training, reviewing work, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, compiling design and construction documents, interacting with multiple business groups, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Previous project/client management experience is required.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate emerging and embryonic technologies; develop and implement pilots on such technologies with strategic clients nationwide.
  • Engage with clients to discuss needs and how HDR can assist them.
  • Design and prepare construction documents, calculations, specifications, and reports for water and wastewater systems.
  • Project coordination and equipment sizing/selection in collaboration with owners.
  • Write and present technical reports; serve as owner’s representative coordinating inspections, shop drawings, submittals, and acceptance activities.
  • Coordinate work of engineers and multidisciplinary teams throughout project development.
  • Conduct design development sessions and contract document reviews with other staff.
  • Present at local, regional, and international conferences.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience designing and supporting wastewater projects, including treatment, collection, and pump station systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with hydraulic or process modeling software is a plus.
  • Self‑motivated, independent, and collaborative team player able to complete tasks.
  • Commitment to employee‑owned culture.
  • Preference for local candidates.
  • MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Proven project leadership, staffing, scheduling, and budgeting; mentoring skills preferred.
  • Business development experience.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • MS Office and MS Project experience required;
    Access experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
