In this role, which focuses on electric power generation facilities, you will collect, review, edit, validate, and track data to ensure our power plant operations and emissions are compliant with environmental permits and regulations.
KeyFocus Areas
- Participating in the implementation and enforcement of established environmental programs, processes, or procedures, such as continuous emissions monitoring, waste management, and asbestos assessment. Interpreting and applying environmental regulations at multiple levels (federal, state, and local)
- Implementing Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) quality assurance procedures
- Installing, relocating, replacing, maintaining, adjusting, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing monitoring and data recording equipment for CEMS
- Conducting Method 9 opacity observations
- Supporting field stack testing activities, including RATA, mercury, and other air emissions testing
- Representing industrial facilities on relevant programs during audits and regulatory inspections with internal customers, external agencies and 3rd party vendors
- Collecting, monitoring, recording, evaluating, and reporting environmental compliance information to management by developing reports utilizing environmental information, trends, and data
- Participating in small-scale projects or phases of larger projects, including determining scope, resources, researching applicable policies, procedures, regulations and processes, and coordinating with internal subject matter experts
- Troubleshooting and repairing various instruments and devices
- Responding to inquiries and providing technical assistance to internal customers and peers
- Experience in an environmental regulatory capacity, preferably around power generation and clean energy
- Experience in the design and operation of environmental technical systems, preferably with CEMS in the power generation industry
- Experience with air quality standards and/or monitoring is extremely important to note on resume
- Possession of EPA Method 9 certification is highly desired
- The ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire is required
- Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field is valued
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required
- Exerts 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10-20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
- Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions and intense noises.
