CLA is looking to hire a Controller for our State and Local Government Client consulting and outsourcing team in our Denver offices. Our SLG outsourcing service helps our clients transform their governmental entities with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.

• Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service.
• Take on the role of consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities and attend industry-leading events and trainings.
• Maintain knowledge of the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
• Advise management on short-term and long term financial objectives, policies and actions.

• Six years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required. Experience with state and local government municipalities strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Grants Management Experience preferred.
• Knowledge of MUNIS preferred and/or other commonly used municipal software packages.
• Knowledge of DOR reporting preferred.
• Prior project management and client management experience preferred but not required.
