Financial Manager, CFO
Catholic Charities is seeking a strategic and mission-focused Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial vision and stewardship of our organization. As a trusted partner to the CEO and Board of Directors, the CFO will play a key role in guiding the agency’s long-term financial planning, overseeing core financial operations, and ensuring the responsible management of resources in support of our mission.

The CFO will lead the finance team, support agency-wide decision-making with sound financial insight, and help position Catholic Charities for continued impact and sustainability in a changing landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Serve as a strategic partner to the President & CEO and Board of Directors on financial planning, risk management, sustainability, trends, and agency growth.
- Lead long-term financial planning and forecasting aligned with agency priorities, impact goals, and external economic conditions.
- Promote data-informed decision-making across departments through effective financial modeling and forecasting.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, cash flow, accounting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, dashboards, and forecasts for executive leadership and the Board.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to guide agency strategy and resource allocation.
- Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the organization’s capital planning processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and long-term growth plans.
- Oversee the organization’s investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with board-approved investment policies and the organization’s mission, values, and long-term financial objectives.
Audit, Compliance & Risk Management
- Manage the annual audit process and ensure all financial practices comply with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and contractual requirements.
- Monitor internal controls and risk exposure and implement improvements to strengthen fiscal operations.
- Lead the preparation of annual filings, including IRS Form 990 and other regulatory reports.
Grants & Restricted Fund Management
- Oversee financial management of public and private grants, including compliance, reimbursement, and reporting.
- Collaborate with program and advancement teams to ensure strategic and compliant use of restricted funds.
Team & Systems Oversight
- Lead and develop the Finance team to ensure high performance, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Oversee payroll administration and benefits-related fiscal responsibilities.
- Evaluate and enhance financial systems and processes for efficiency and scalability.
- Lead the development and enforcement of agency-wide policies and procedures, including employee guidelines related to fiscal responsibility, to ensure alignment with regulatory standards, best practices, and organizational values.
Board & Committee Engagement
- Present regularly to the Board of Directors and its Finance Committee, providing insight, transparency, and strategic guidance.
- Support the financial literacy and engagement of board members in stewardship and sustainability efforts.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including significant nonprofit experience.
- Proven record of managing audits, complex budgets, and cross-functional financial operations.
