Description of Job

The position assures the legal incarceration and release of subjects sentenced to the Colorado DOC by analyzing and auditing all incoming legal documents, calculating parole eligibility date, sentence discharge dates and scheduled primary parole board hearing months. The position has training in all aspects of time computation and release operations and can carry a moderate caseload. It works largely independently, but asks questions to expand knowledge and experience.

It exchanges, collects and detects information through communication with attorneys and DOC personnel with regard to time computational statutory law, case law and DOC Administrative regulations and policies.

Primary Duties in Time and Release
  • Assure accuracy of documentation by auditing legal sentencing documents (Court Minutes, Orders, Parole Board Minutes) for accuracy and compliance with Colorado Revised Statutes.
  • Determine initial time credits for each case.
  • Compile and systematize all legal documentation, statutory requirements and administrative regulations to quantify the length of legal incarceration for each person sentenced to the DOC.
  • Audit and analyze all time awards and losses entered into eOMIS by other DOC staff.
  • Confirm eligibility of each person to receive the entered awards or losses through analysis of time account limits and posting summaries and correlation with convictions under the Code of Penal Discipline.
  • Implement the release process for persons being paroled, statutorily discharged or released by court order from the DOC by accessing the Colorado Crime Investigation Center/National Crime Investigation Center (CCIC/NCIC) network.
  • Execute all notifications necessitated by CCIC/NCIC entries. Initiate proper releasing documentation.
  • Exchange, collect, and detect information through communication with law enforcement agencies, parole board members, and families of incarcerated persons regarding parole and/or discharge eligibility, established parole hearing month and applications of statutory/case law.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Three years of technical or high‑level clerical experience. Technical work is skilled work in the practical application of specialized techniques, procedures, practices, or methods. High‑Level clerical experience includes document creation, word processing, creating and revising office procedures, compiling and formatting content for program materials, screening documents to determine eligibility, authenticity or identity, accounting for funds, etc.

OR a combination of college, university or non‑correspondence school course and/or relevant experience equal to three (3) years. An unofficial college transcript must be attached to verify education.

Required Competencies
