GENERAL SUMMARY
The Radiation Therapist is an essential member of the Radiation Oncology team, primarily functioning in a specialized area of radiation therapy technology as a direct patient care provider in the Radiation Oncology Center. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for all duties related to administering prescribed Radiation Therapy, understanding complex medical prescriptions, working under pressure, communicating clearly with personnel, patients, and physicians, and providing quality patient care based on the patient's diagnosis and treatment needs.

The Radiation Therapist is an essential member of the Radiation Oncology team, responsible for administering Radiation Therapy, understanding complex prescriptions, working under pressure, communicating effectively, and delivering quality patient care.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/COMPETENCIES
- Review and administer daily Radiation Therapy treatments efficiently.
- Adhere to department policies and prepare treatment rooms and equipment.
- Set treatment unit parameters and deliver prescribed radiation doses.
- Maintain communication with patients during treatment.
- Obtain port films and adjust fields as prescribed.
- Monitor patients for reactions and report to supervisors.
- Maintain immobilization devices and ensure safety procedures.
- Record charges and maintain machine logs.
- Assist with equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
- Ensure accurate medical records and perform other duties as assigned.
Certifications and Licenses
- One-year certificate in Radiation Therapy from a college or technical school, certified by ARRT.
- Certified by ARRT and ASRT.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- State license and certification as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of therapeutic procedures, healthcare systems, and database management.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and patient service skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One-year certificate in Radiation Therapy, ARRT certified.
- Minimum six months related experience or equivalent.
Physical Demands
Frequent lifting of 1-25 lbs., occasional lifting of 26-50 lbs., and other physical activities as detailed.
