POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Educator acts as a role model to clinicians, staff, other health care professionals and support services, and provides education in Visiting Nursing, using the patient-centered model of care. The Clinical Educator supports and promotes practice standards in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Philosophy and Goals of Innovive Health.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides clinical education in home health care for full time and per diem clinical staff.
- Conducts clinical new hire orientation and ongoing trainings.
- Supports individual staff as well as educational planning and committee work.
- Assesses individual and group learning needs, ongoing evaluation of educational efforts and support/facilitation of specialty certification.
- Assessment of education and collaboration with Leadership to ensure that staff receive patient safety, mandatory competency training, as well as other training related to policies and procedures and advanced technologies that support perioperative nursing practice.
- Identifies educational needs and issues of staff by collecting data and related information; analyze issues, trends, and supporting evidence to determine needs of individuals, departments, and the organization.
- Supports scheduling flexibility for coverage of off-hours, to include evenings and weekends, to meet the educational needs of the agency.
- Maintains current knowledge and competency in field of expertise and professional development practice; enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, and attending in-services; serve as a role model; maintains certification in specialty area; attend meetings and represent department or hospital on committees as assigned; provides leadership in the practice settings and the profession.
- Establishes collegial partnerships with other professionals, leaders, stakeholders, and others who contribute to the development of peers, staff, students, colleagues, and others; collaborates with individuals and groups to facilitate practice and promote quality outcomes; serves as a consultant and educational resource.
- Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, efficiency, quantity, and cost regarding instructional programs and desired outcomes; demonstrates achievement of productivity goals.
- Follows patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Demonstrates proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes.
- Reports potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN), nursing education, or closely related field
- Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) by the Colorado Board of Nursing or other related field such as OT or PT
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- 3+ years of experience in nursing, healthcare operations, educational experience, EMR trainer.
- 2-5 years of clinical content development experience.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Outlook and Word
- Strong technical proficiency with demonstrated ability to leverage technology for training & education
