Our community is seeking a Care / Medication Technician to join our team.
The Care Giver / Med Tech role involves providing hands-on care, physical, and emotional support to residents while maintaining a safe, home-like environment.
Responsibilities:
Care Giver:- Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift; knows their whereabouts and checks on them physically throughout the shift.
- Observes, reports, and documents symptoms and conditions of residents for changes such as skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary intake, and participation in activities.
- Responds promptly to security system alerts and resident call bells.
- Notifies supervisor or Healthcare Coordinator if a resident’s care needs increase.
- Assists with continence management and disposes of products properly to ensure sanitation.
- Serves and collects food trays; reports meal refusals or loss of appetite.
- Maintains cleanliness of residents' rooms and work areas.
- Practices good hygiene and health precautions.
- Helps residents maintain independence, dignity, and safety.
- Assists with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, and eating.
- Engages residents in life skills and enrichment activities.
- Greets and assists residents, guests, family members, vendors, and team members.
- Performs resident laundry as needed.
- Reviews service plans to understand residents’ needs.
- Assists with medication administration, observing the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
- Documents medication administration, refusals, or missed doses.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident information and medication records.
- Reports concerns to Nurse or Healthcare Coordinator.
- Restocks medication carts after each shift.
- Assists in medication checks and maintains medication room cleanliness.
- Follows procedures for medication re-fills and documentation.
- Participates in developing and updating Service Plans.
- Records vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration.
- Immediately reports occupational exposures or hazards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Certified Nurse's Aide certification preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
- Experience working with seniors is a plus.
