CDOC - STATISTICAL ANALYST II
Position located in Colorado Springs, CO
. This role is open only to Colorado state residents.
This position queries offender data systems, downloads necessary data, and builds large datasets from relational databases. The analyst reports population trends, analyzes data for forecasting and reporting the impact of decisions, completes ad hoc requests and surveys, maintains the Office of Planning and Analysis reporting system, and independently develops and completes a range of analyses and reports using inferential statistical measures in response to department data requests.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Publish periodic departmental reports and bulletins by designing, organizing, and maintaining departmental databases.
- Conduct statistical analyses of data, interpret complex datasets and statistical output, and identify and report statistical trends in written and graphical formats.
- Collaborate with other state and federal agencies to routinely report and securely transfer electronic offender data for official reporting.
- Use the Office of Planning and Analysis reporting system to select offender data and conduct statistical analyses in response to requests for information about various population subsets.
- Service data and research requests by interpreting data questions, collecting and analyzing data from multiple sources such as computer reports, online programs, and published literature, and conducting analyses using statistical techniques.
- Ensure that the requesting party understands and interprets the findings correctly.
- Maintain accuracy of the Office of Planning and Analysis reporting system, verifying information and detecting errors or missing information for accountable statistical reporting.
- Analyze the impact to the department of proposed legislation by conducting an analysis of bill history, interpreting effects on the offender population, developing analytic strategy, documenting methods and data, and writing a summary of findings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Six (6) years of experience in statistics, statistical analysis, mathematics, economics, research methodology, or a related field, or a combination of related education and experience equal to six (6) years.

- Read and comprehend the English language.
- Fluent verbal and written communication in English.
- Work experience in corrections, judicial system, or law enforcement agency.
- Knowledge and experience in the Department's current information systems, including database structures and relationships.
- Ability to independently research and assess existing database systems and create research/reporting databases.
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, and the democratic political process, including Colorado Revised Statutes.
- Experience creating data visualizations in Tableau or similar software.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- No felony convictions, including defined acts related to sexual abuse, harassment, or violent behavior.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States; CDOC does not sponsor non‑residents.
- Successfully pass all modules of the six‑week Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training, including proficiency in defensive tactics.
- Pass required physical examinations covering defensive tactics, vision, hearing, and physical capabilities.
