Job TitleSenior Network Engineer & Architect
DescriptionSRC is searching for a well‑rounded Senior Network Engineer and Architect to design and plan Information Technology (IT) networks and architecture, security implementation, network performance monitoring, troubleshooting and support, and scalability and capacity planning for IT requirements for United States Space Command (USSPACECOM) command and control facilities. Manages several projects simultaneously from design to implementation and provides installation oversight at a new facility by engaging with functional area managers (FAMs) and other engineers.
Work supporting USSPACECOM will be conducted at the government's facilities in Colorado Springs, CO.
- Develop detailed network design plans for the data center, ensuring they meet DoD requirements and standards
- Create network diagrams, schematics, and documentation for the data center infrastructure
- Oversee the installation and configuration of network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment
- Ensure all network components are correctly set up and optimized for performance and security
- Implement DoD‑approved security protocols and measures within the data center network
- Configure firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security appliances to protect the network from threats
- Monitor network performance to identify and resolve issues, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime
- Use network monitoring tools to track bandwidth usage, latency, and other key performance indicators
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for network‑related issues within the data center
- Work with other IT teams to diagnose and resolve complex network problems
- Conduct capacity planning to ensure the network can handle current and future data center demands
- Design scalable network solutions that can grow with the organization's needs
- 10+ years of experience administering and engineering multi‑vendor networks (e.g., Juniper/JUNOS devices and Cisco devices)
- At least seven years of professional experience as Network Architect & Lead of similar size and scope
- Five years of experience supporting a DoD program of similar size and scope
- Three+ years of network design experience with load balancing and high‑availability systems
- Experience with planning, design and implementation of networked systems, including configuration management, upgrades and troubleshooting of network issues
- Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or IT related field, OR bachelor's degree in same area plus an additional five years of experience
- Active Juniper Network Certified Professional (JNCIP) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
- Possess IAT/IAM Level II or greater
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to track, recommend, and implement resolutions to issues
- Ability to build good relationships with peers, business partners, and clients
- Fundamental understanding of Nutanix‑based hardware and network virtualization
- Experience with web application architectures and required ports and protocols
- Cloud technologies, AWS Gov Cloud, Postgre
SQL databases - Experience with network analysis applications (e.g., sniffer, Wireshark, Microsoft Network Monitor)
- Experience with network security hardware such as Cisco ASA, Barracuda Next‑Gen Firewall, Sonic Wall TZ, Splunk, Solar Winds Log‑Event Manager, Bro Network Security Monitor
- Experience performing engineering services to support accreditation for software running on cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services and commercial cloud services (C2S)
- Ability to collaborate within a fast‑paced, multi‑disciplinary team
- Experience installing, configuring and testing various network devices
- Five+ years of experience using Microsoft Visio for network architecture design
