Junior Systems Administrator

Perform system administration duties on Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) suite of applications. Support systems engineering, maintenance, and operations of cyber capabilities. Assist in troubleshooting of hardware, software, and capability of the DCO suite of applications. Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability. Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures. Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies. Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.

Manage system/server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability. Monitor and maintain system/server configuration. Perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware. Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems. Install, update, and troubleshoot systems/servers. Patch network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties. Other duties as assigned.

• Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Technology, or other relevant discipline preferred.
• Active DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification with Continuing Education (CE) (CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP) required.
• Must have, or obtain upon hire, an active DoD 8570.01-M CSSP Infrastructure Support certification with Continuing Education (CE) (CEH, CySA+, GICSP, SSCP, CHFI, CFR, Cloud+, CND).
• Experience: 2+ years of general (full-time) work experience.
• 6+ months of directly related experience.
• Experience with Linux system administration in a DoD environment.
• Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) experience.
• Experience with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) preferred.
• Server Management experience, including deployment, backups, snapshots preferred.
• Security: Must be a US citizen. Candidate must be in possession of a minimum DoD issued Secret Clearance.
• Physical Requirements: Able to occasionally reach with hands and arms. Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk. Adhere to safety protocols when in work areas requiring use of PPE (e.g. eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, etc.). Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time.
