F) Description Of Duties
The Operations Technical Lead supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) Contract. The candidate will lead our operations team maintaining a hybrid, HPC DoD Secret enclave, utilize extensive leadership experience in an operations center setting, actively manage change requests, incidents, and work orders, drive productivity, manage capacity for a team of 8‑12 personnel, implement process improvements, track KPIs, and integrate with adjacent teams such as Cyber, Customer Experience, and Architecture & Engineering.
- Proactively mitigate vulnerabilities, resolve incidents, and ensure continuous improvement within a complex, highly secure operational environment that is actively modernizing and adapting to the needs of a critical DoD customer.

RequirementsBasic Requirements:
- Must have 10 or more years of directly related experience working as a network engineer or system administrator, actively closing tickets through troubleshooting and creative problem solving.
- Must have 5 or more years of leadership experience in an operations center setting, actively managing change requests, incidents, and work orders (preferably in a hybrid HPC environment).
- Must be willing and able to "get behind a keyboard" and directly execute system administration or network engineering tasks when needed to support the team and resolve critical issues.
- Must have strong experience with both system administration and network engineering.
- Must have experience with patching and software updates.
- Must be proficient with various IT systems, including networks, operating systems, cloud platforms (such as AWS), and IT service management tools.
- Must be familiar with Active Directory, including account management and related tasks.
- Must have demonstrated ability to lead a team of 8‑12 personnel, track work, and manage capacity effectively.
- Must be able to take initiative to drive productivity and resolve issues proactively.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
- Must have process improvement skills, with experience in KPI tracking and implementation.
- Must have, or obtain within 6 months of hire, a current DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE or higher.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Have a Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Passion for lifelong learning and a strong foundation in core computing principles.
- Certifications:
- Cloud Computing Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Fundamentals, Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
- Networking Certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+)
- Virtualization Certifications (e.g., VMware VCP, VCAP)
- ITIL Certifications (ITIL Foundation, ITIL Intermediate)
- Technical Expertise:
- Extensive experience with VMWare, VCF, and ESXi.
- Experience working in a Modeling and Simulation environment.
- Proficient with network connectivity devices and their relationship with PKI authentication.
- Familiar with Cyber‑defense or information assurance, including experience with DISA‑mandated security tools (ACAS, HBSS).
- Operational Acumen:
- Experience in metrics‑based IT Operations and Maintenance (O&M) teams.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement through data‑driven insights.
- Familiar with Remedy and SNMP monitoring tools (Solar Winds, Microfocus NNMi/HPOV, Systems Center Operations Manager).
- Experience with ITIL framework and ITIL‑based processes (e.g., continual service improvement, change management, problem investigation).
Position is expected to pay $155,000‑$185,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and certifications that are directly related to the position. The position will be posted for a minimum of 3 days and will continue to be posted until a suitable candidate is selected or the position is closed.
