Role Description

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join the Colorado Springs Police Department as a full-time Latent Print Examiner. This on-site role, based in Colorado Springs, CO, involves the identification, evaluation, and comparison of latent prints for criminal investigations. The Latent Print Examiner will process crime scene evidence, utilize AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems), prepare detailed reports, and provide expert testimony in court when required.

The role also includes overseeing quality control measures and collaborating closely with other law enforcement professionals.

Qualifications
  • Expertise in Latent Print Processing, including evaluation, comparison, and reporting
  • Proficiency with AFIS and related fingerprint identification systems
  • Thorough knowledge of forensic science principles, evidence documentation, and crime scene processing
  • Strong skills in forensic photography and examination techniques for latent prints
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present expert testimony in court
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure, maintain attention to detail, and comply with rigorous quality control standards
  • Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred
  • Experience working in criminal justice or law enforcement settings is a plus
  • International Association for Identification (IAI) Certified Latent Print Examiner certification preferred but not required
