Overview
Concepts in Millwork is seeking a Millwork Team Lead to supervise and guide a team of craftsmen in producing high‑quality custom millwork. The role supports the Production Manager and Shop Foreman, drives safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale through servant leadership, and provides hands‑on guidance to ensure efficient production.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Provide direct supervision and coaching to the Millwork Team.
- Execute the MDI (Managing Daily Improvement) strategy and meet established expectations.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area, ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Track project/task stages and schedule assignments to keep workflow transparent.
- Coordinate assignment release at least one day before completion of current tasks.
- Communicate with the machine department and inventory clerk regarding needs.
- Provide clear answer hierarchy:
Team Lead → Shop Foreman → Production Manager → Engineers/Project Managers. - Collect QC sheets per team member and verify quality standards.
- Monitor work area cleanliness, remove scrap, sweep floors, stage completed products.
- Assist the foreman with efficiency ideas and recommendations.
- Review day‑to‑day time‑sheet accuracy and provide adjustments.
- Report weekly progress to the production manager for schedule updates.
- Lead monthly department meetings and support continuous improvement.
- Manage multiple tasks in a deadline‑oriented environment.
- Adjust team member assignments throughout the day to meet production needs.
- Communicate necessary instructions to shifts and ensure workflow continuity.
- Interpret shop drawings and relate elevations, plan views, and detail sections to fabrication.
- Sand solid woods and veneers using pneumatic sanders and hand sanding.
- Verify drawing and part dimensions before assembly.
- Create jigs for routing reveals, arcs, radiuses, wall plates, wood profiles, etc.
- Identify wood species (solids and veneers).
- Fabricate solid surface material (e.g., Corian).
- Apply plastic laminate to flat and radius surfaces without bubbles, ensuring tight joints.
- Lead fabrication of panel systems, trim projects, display cases, nurse stations, and reception desks.
- Own or obtain tools as listed in the required tool list.
- Diagnose and solve machining, drawing, and production problems quickly.
- Operate file, chisel, screwdriver, handsaw, clamps, biscuit joiner, router, drill, belt sander, stapler, table saw, and chop saw; read tape measure accurately.
- Previous experience in millwork fabrication.
- A self‑starter who takes initiative and jumps in.
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and skilled at juggling priorities.
- Effective communicator with clients and teammates.
- Positive collaborator who energizes interactions.
- Exemplary leadership, coaching, and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of LEAN/5S methodology preferred.

- Salary: $26 to $36 an hour, commensurate with experience.
- Job Type: Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 6:00 am–2:30 pm (with expectation of additional hours as required).
