Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position in Colorado, requiring a compact or CO RN license and strong MS-Tele skills.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital setting as part of a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool
- Float between multiple units including General MS-Tele, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
- Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with a variety of medical, surgical, and specialty diagnoses
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6 based on acuity
- Use Epic EMR system with prior experience preferred
- Night shifts are 12 hours with scheduling made by leadership for 6 weeks at a time
- Required to float throughout Zone 1 within a 60-mile radius of Colorado Springs
- 6-9 weekend shifts required within each 6-week schedule
- May be assigned to care for low-acuity holds in ICU, PCU/Stepdown, or MS-Tele units depending on skillset
- Rare call or standby requirements for low census
- Duties include caring for a range of adult and geriatric patients with diverse diagnoses in various units
- Expected to float among multiple facilities and specialties according to patient needs
- Support provided by charge nurses and nurse aides on each unit
- Use of respiratory equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP may be necessary
- Must participate in holiday rotations as needed
- All time off must be requested before starting assignment
- Travelers are responsible for securing housing that supports floating requirements within the float zone
- No home base facility; float assignments will vary and be communicated prior to each schedule
- Active CO or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent MS-Telemetry nursing experience required
- BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required and must be current
- Must provide a copy of a valid driver's license for consideration
- Two professional references required, including one from a supervisor within the last 12 months
- Must be able to float within a 60-mile radius of the designated city center
- Heparin drip titration required
- Prior neuro experience preferred
