- Must be comfortable with high acuity unit

- Experience with ventilator support, vasoactive medications, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and post-arrest targeted temperature management

Description:

The Medical Intensive Care Unit is a busy unit providing care for critically ill adult medical patients. We care for a wide variety of diseases and conditions including pulmonary diseases, septic shock, multi-organ failure, GI bleeds, liver disease, acute respiratory failure, and drug overdose. Common therapies include ventilator support and continuous renal replacement therapy. Outstanding teamwork and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team make the unit an exceptional workplace.

The average daily census is 23 patients. The unit has a total of 24 beds. The staffing ratio is 1 nurse for every 2 patients. Flexibility to float to different areas as required is needed. Weekend shifts are required, with 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule. Travelers are welcome if they meet the required experience. Completion of facility-specific modules within the first week of the assignment is mandatory.
