Position Summary

This Postdoctoral Scholar (Postdoc) position supports research and services being conducted at the Center for the Study of Family Violence and Sexual Assault, and is designed to enhance the research training and professional skills of the individual filling the position. Postdocs may participate in all phases of Center-sponsored research and services, including data collection, data management, statistical analyses, dissemination of findings in scholarly articles and presentations.

Post docs also may support training for graduate students and undergraduate students engaging in Center-sponsored research.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support for Center-sponsored Projects – 40%
  • Provide support to Center-sponsored projects that provide services related to family violence, trauma, and related topics
External Fund Seeking – 25%
  • Engage in grant writing activities that result in submission of competitive research proposals to funding agencies
Research and Scholarly Products – 25%
  • Conduct research (including assisting with Center-sponsored projects) that will lead to the production of scholarly products (e.g., articles, presentations)
Training for Students – 10%
  • Support research training opportunities for graduate students and undergraduate students
Minimum

Required Qualifications (SPS)
  • Recent doctoral degree (or equivalent) generally awarded within the last 6 years, in psychology, sociology, counseling, social work, statistics or a related field.
Additional Requirements (SPS)
  • Advanced statistical skills in SPSS, R, and related software.
  • Strong scientific writing skills.
  • Advanced understanding of statistics and research methods.
  • Experience conducting research on family violence, sexual assault, PTSD, or other related topics.
Preferred Qualifications (SPS)
  • Background in family violence research or related topics.
  • Extensive experience publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Grant writing experience preferred.

Anticipated Appointment

Start Date:

1/1/2026

Anticipated Appointment End Date: 12/31/2026

Percent of Staff Year: 1.00

Standard Hours Per Week: 37.5 hours

Working Hours:

Monday-Friday — 8:30 - 5:00 pm, one-hour lunch, some weekend and evenings as needed
