Position: Solar Canvasser – 1099 Independent Contractor

The Solar Canvasser (Independent Contractor) is responsible for generating qualified sales opportunities through door-to-door outreach in residential neighborhoods within Photon Brothers’ service area. As a 1099 contractor, you set your own schedule within agreed-upon hours, manage your own workload, and are compensated strictly on performance—based on qualified sits and closed deals generated from your canvassing efforts.

Lead Generation & Outreach
  • Independently canvass residential neighborhoods to engage homeowners in conversations about solar energy.
  • Deliver a concise, compelling value pitch and identify homeowners interested in learning more.
  • Pre-qualify prospects using Photon Brothers’ criteria (home ownership, roof suitability, shading, utility use, basic credit readiness).
  • Schedule qualified sits (meetings with solar consultants) and accurately submit lead details through approved channels.
Brand Representation
  • Represent Photon Brothers professionally during all homeowner interactions.
  • Provide high-level solar education without quoting system prices, financing terms, or making guarantees.
Lead Management
  • Maintain accurate records of all leads, conversations, and outcomes as required by the company’s lead submission process.
  • Communicate promptly with sales consultants to ensure smooth lead handoff and maximize close potential.
Independent Work Expectations
  • Manage your own schedule to maximize productivity.
  • Supply your own transportation, phone, and tools needed for canvassing.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local laws related to independent contractor work.
Requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable with door-to-door outreach and handling objections.
  • Motivated, self-directed, and able to structure your own working hours.
  • Able to deliver a consistent pitch and follow qualification guidelines.
  • Outdoor stamina for walking and canvassing multiple hours per day.
  • Reliable transportation and smartphone.
  • Must be able to provide proof of general liability insurance

This role pays $300 for each 'qualified sit' as well as $500 for each closed sale for solar and battery systems.
