SARA is looking for a remarkably talented, motivated, and experienced Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to support activities out of our Colorado Springs location. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and learn with talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on long‑standing programs and new programs supporting our customers.

Core Responsibilities
  • Assist the FSO in managing all aspects of the industrial security program
  • Conduct employee onboardings and maintain personnel security records
  • Utilize Defense Information System for Security (DISS), National Background Investigations Services (NBIS), and Secure Web Fingerprint Transmissions (SWFT) to submit clearance packages and SF86 updates
  • Conduct security awareness trainings, briefings, and debriefings
  • Manage visit authorization requests (VARs) and support meetings
  • Maintain standard practices and procedures (SPP) for handling, storing, and protecting classified materials
  • Oversee document control: proper handling, transmission, and destruction
  • Support the Insider Threat Program
  • Investigate and document security violations and mitigation efforts
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and apply corrective or preventative actions
  • Support annual security education training and awareness (SETA) program compliance
  • Assist with periodic self‑inspections and security compliance inspections and audits
  • Support access control and alarm systems
  • Oversee access badges and access approvals
  • Conduct random bag checks
  • Assist with escorting duties as needed
  • Manage standard form 701s,702s, and related facility documentation
  • Cover reception desk as needed
  • Collaborate effectively with intercompany personnel, DCSA reps, and customers
  • Assist with build‑out of an ICD‑705 compliant facility
  • Participate in on‑call rotation
  • Other duties as required
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CDSE FSO Program Management Curriculum
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • US Citizen with Active Secret clearance and the ability to maintain clearance
  • May require light physical effort involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Working environment is indoor, moderately quiet, reasonably clean, well‑lighted and well‑ventilated; moderate physical hazards may exist
Preferred Qualifications
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Minimum 1 years relevant experience
  • AFSO or Industrial Security Specialist experience
  • Experience utilizing DISS, NBIS, and SWFT

Pay Range

Salary at SARA is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract‑specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $24 to $28.85 (hourly USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of SARA's total compensation package for employees.
