Position: Youth Services Specialist I - Spring Creek YSC - Colorado Springs.

Youth Services Specialist I – Spring Creek YSC – Colorado Springs, CO

Location: Spring Creek Youth Service Center, 3190 East Las Vegas St., Colorado Springs, CO 80906.

Job Summary: A direct‑care role providing engaged supervision of youth in DYS State‑Operated Secure Facilities. Responsibilities include safety and security, youth center programming, documentation and reporting, organizational accountability, and training.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure safety, security, and supervision of adjudicated and pre‑adjudicated youth in a secure setting.
  • Implement the Youth Center behavior‑management program, coach and redirect youth, and support crisis interventions.
  • Document nazionale observation and record unit activities in required systems, maintaining logs and reports.
  • Demonstrate healthy, respectful relationships, uphold nonviolence and other organizational values, and comply with CDHS code of conduct.
  • Complete pre‑service training, ongoing training, and assist with other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Physical ability to work on feet, climb stairs, and intervene with aggressive youth.
  • Must be a Colorado resident at the time of application and throughout employment.
  • Completed background checks as required by CDHS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College education in behavioral health, juvenile justice, or related field.
  • Experience working with adjudicated or detained youth in secure or behavioral health settings.
  • Experience facilitating psycho educational groups or working with trauma‑informed youth.
  • Experience in mentoring, coaching, and conflict‑management skills.
  • State service experience and knowledge of conflict‑management principles.
Physical & Work Environment

Shift work (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) with potential overtime. Job requires standing, stair climbing, and physical intervention.
