Position: Software Engineer (Experienced / Senior)

Overview

Software Engineer (Experienced / Senior)  Boeing Space & Launch Division's GSCCE program is looking for Software Engineers (Experienced/Senior) in Colorado Springs, CO. This role involves updating, upgrading, and developing a modernized global MILSATCOM ground system and participating in the full product development lifecycle from conceptualization to maintenance and support.

You will be part of the Boeing SIWS (Space, Intelligence & Weapon Systems) Division and the GSCCE team, contributing to a project that manages WGS payloads for Boeing-built satellites. The role offers mentoring, collaboration, and opportunities to influence project outcomes within a fast-paced environment.

Position Responsibilities

• Full-Stack developer, proficient in all application layers from the user interface to the server-side logic and database.
• Develop and maintain custom software applications using Java, Python, C++, React.js, HTML, CSS, and related technologies.
• Familiar with code hardening and the Application Security & Development (AS&D) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG).
• Familiar with code quality and code coverage tools like linting and static application security testing (SAST).
• Design, develop, analyze, document, and maintain software systems that meet industry, customer and internal quality, safety, security and certification standards.
• Complete software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues and opportunities; integrate and deploy mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle.
• Perform code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards.
• Monitor and review test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution for software.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, including identifying root causes and developing solutions for optimal performance.
• Develop clean, maintainable, and efficient code within the existing codebase, aligned with architecture and coding standards.
• Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance and contribute to team-wide enhancements.
• Mentor junior engineering talent with technical guidance.
• Communicate effectively with end-users to design and build solutions, pursue self-directed learning, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Experience and Qualifications Required Education and Years of Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, data science, or computer science with 5+ years of related experience OR
• Master's degree in engineering, data science, or computer science with 3+ years of related experience
• 4 years of additional experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree

Required Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
• 3+ years of software engineering experience with modern development approaches
• 3+ years of web-based development using React
  
  JS, Redux, JavaScript, Type Script, HTML, CSS
• 3+ years of Agile software development
• Experience delivering enterprise solutions with Java Spring (Spring Boot, JDBC, Security) and front-end frameworks such as Angular
• Experience identifying security vulnerabilities in source code
• Knowledge of back-end and front-end development concepts (HTML, CSS, JS, etc.)

Desired Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance
• 5+ years of open-source software development experience
• 5+ years tuning Kubernetes and host OS for optimal performance
• 5+ years troubleshooting software and network integration during platform deployments
• 3+ years with web socket programming
• Ability to work with ambiguity, self-direct work, and support project leadership activities
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and government security requirements for software delivery and system accreditation

Telework/Remote Availability

Hybrid work is authorized (minimum 3 days onsite).

Summary Pay Range

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications. General range: $114,000 - $158,000.
