Navigator Recruiting is engaged in a search for a Tax Accountant for a growing full-service 12-employee CPA firm in a small mountain town (population: 10,000, elevation: 7,500 ft.) in Southwestern Colorado. The firm has been providing tax, accounting and planning services to individuals, businesses, governmental and not-for-profit entities for decades and has an excellent reputation. The firm does a fair amount of multi-state work and many clients are in the oil and gas, real estate and ranching industries.
There are opportunities for an ambitious, hardworking and entrepreneurial person to excel. The firm is virtually paperless and offers clients an efficient and convenient means of communication and data transfer which is highly sophisticated. The company offers good benefits and pays a $300/month allowance toward a medical premium (on top of the salary). The company also offers vacation and in addition to this, the firm offers additional days off as it is closed from 12/24 – 1/2 every year, and works 36 hour weeks from 5/1 – 12/23.
The firm also offers standard holidays, sick time, CPE, and an opportunity to bank overtime hours. (OT hours are usually minimal, however, but could be used for extra personal days or doctor’s appointments, etc.)
- Preparation of tax returns in Ultra Tax for businesses (S corps, C corps, Partnerships), individuals and trusts.
- Client service
- Quick Books/financial statement update and review
- Preparation of compilation reports
- Other special projects, such as assisting partners with tax planning, retirement planning, etc.
- Work hours for staff are very fair and promote a work-life balance and a lifestyle of enjoying the outdoors:
- May 1 – Dec. 31: 36 hrs/wk
- Jan. 1 – Feb. 15: 40 hrs/wk
- Feb. 15 – Feb. 28: 45 hrs/wk
- Mar. 1 – Apr. 15: 50
-55 hrs/wk- Partners typically work up to 55-60 hrs/wk
- BS in Accounting
- CPA preferred
- 2+ years’ public accounting tax experience
- Some oil & gas tax knowledge is helpful but not required and can be learned
- CS Ultra Tax experience is helpful as is some familiarity with Quick Books
- Someone who is steady, hardworking, entrepreneurial and ambitious
- Someone who enjoys the outdoors and the lifestyle of a small town in the mountains
