About The Role: The Assistant Project Manager assists in the oversight of construction projects that deliver exceptional results for clients, generate profit, and build lasting client relationships.
Company Overview: Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc., a subsidiary of MYR Group, Inc., has provided comprehensive electrical construction services since 1912. The company offers power line and commercial/industrial electrical construction services.
Essential Functions:
- Assist Project Manager in service‑management duties.
- Develop effective, efficient solutions to issues that may arise.
- Study bid specifications and drawings carefully.
- Communicate continuously with clients.
- Deliver projects in a timely manner.
- Attend networking events and travel to conferences and job sites as needed.
- Build and maintain long‑lasting relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate closely with crews, superintendents, and other departments within the company.
- Ensure safety procedures and policies are in place and followed.
- Prepare look‑ahead documents and weekly/monthly progress reports.
- Prepare construction schedules in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Essential functions performed in a company‑designated office or field location.
- Understand and comply with the company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry‑specific professional and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as Estimator or Project Engineer in the electrical construction industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field; a combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency with MS Excel and Word.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Superior analytical and organizational skills.
- Superior interpersonal and customer service skills.
- OSHA certifications.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary $85,000–$105,000 per year (commensurate with experience). Paid weekly.
