The Role
GBA Builders is seeking a Safety Specialist to support the health and safety of our project teams and job sites. This role plays a key part in maintaining a strong safety culture by helping ensure compliance with company standards, OSHA regulations, and site‑specific requirements. The Safety Specialist partners closely with the Safety Manager, project teams, subcontractors, and clients to promote safe work practices and proactive hazard mitigation across all phases of construction.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Support the development and implementation of Site‑Specific Safety Plans.
- Help establish and maintain safe working environments on assigned job sites.
- Conduct and coordinate monthly (at minimum) all‑hands safety meetings and participate in client‑led safety trainings.
- Assist with issuing and coordinating safety permits, including Hot Work, Trenching, Confined Space, and other high‑risk activities.
- Perform and document weekly (at minimum) site safety audits to ensure compliance with OSHA, state regulations, and GBA Builders standards.
- Monitor subcontractor activities to confirm adherence to safety requirements and proper PPE use.
- Review subcontractor safety documentation, including JHAs, Method Statements, and training records.
- Attend foreman coordination meetings to provide safety guidance and assist with planning safe work processes.
- Track and report accidents, incidents, and near misses and assist with investigations and reporting.
- Serve as a point of contact between GBA Builders and clients on safety-related matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of project and safety goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Occupational Safety, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0+ years of relevant construction or safety experience.
- OSHA 30‑hour certification (required).
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- Ability to recognize hazards and support risk mitigation efforts in the field.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
Bluebeam experience preferred. - Ability to receive feedback and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Salary range is between $115,000 - $125,000/year
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs as needed on job sites.
- Travel to job sites within the United States is required; frequency will vary based on project needs.
