Job Description
Primary ResponsibilityThe adjunct faculty members of Colorado Mountain College assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available. Faculty are committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities. Although teaching is the most important role, faculty also serve learners through scholarly endeavors and service activities.
Colorado Mountain College offers associate and bachelor’s degrees focused on positive classroom experiences and excellent outcomes. QualificationsQualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in the specific program or be eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:
- A minimum of a master’s degree in the specific field for the position, or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in a related field (e.g., business, finance, management, marketing).
- Minimum of one year full‑time teaching experience, or equivalent as an adjunct instructor.
- Higher education teaching experience preferred.
Additional qualifications:
- Knowledge of pedagogy and at least two years of teaching experience.
- Strong background in computers and technology.
- Excellent organizational, office, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and ability to research, analyze data, and work independently toward goals and deadlines.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
Essential Duties- Teach assigned classes as directed by the supervisor.
- Prepare appropriate lesson plans for each course in accordance with approved objectives.
- Develop and submit course outlines and syllabi to the supervisor.
- Assist in development of measurable course objectives and plans.
- Build professional relationships with students & staff, encouraging communication.
- Maintain accurate student course records and complete required forms.
- Be available for student consultation.
- Assist in recruitment of students, as appropriate.
- Assist in evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance, if agreed upon.
- Represent the college professionally at community events and within the college district.
- Engage in professional development required for credentialing.
This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee. The instructor may supervise student employees.
Working ConditionsPosition requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, driving, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Requires frequent written and oral communication, reasoning, analysis, and calculation. Daily use of computer and standard office equipment; occasional vehicle driving.
