This opening is a Limited Term, twelve (12) month contracted position which has the potential to be renewed contingent upon funding. The position is part time at 28 hours per week including some weekend and evening hours.

Responsibilities

The Museum Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the Curator of Interpretation in developing and implementing both free and revenue generating Museum educational programs, tours, and events. The position will also develop and manage Museum Meeting Room rentals for the public and internal Town departments. The below list is intended to be illustrative of the responsibilities of the position and not all‑encompassing.

The Town may change these duties at any time.

  • Assists in developing annual public programs to meet the Museum’s vision and mission; which may include goals for generating revenue.
  • Assists in developing outreach programming to diverse audiences including youth, adult, family, school and community groups.
  • Assists in developing and coordinating Museum publicity including press releases, email announcements, website updates, and social media posts.
  • Coordinates Museum Meeting Room usage/rentals with internal Town departments and for revenue generating public rentals.
  • Assists with annual reports of activities/statistics to Museum Director.
  • Assists in maintaining departmental website, updating documents, organizing content, and ensuring accuracy of information.
  • Assists in conducting public presentations or tours on topics of interest/expertise when needed or requested by the Town, the public, or other institutions.
  • Assists in developing and sending press releases and emails announcing programs and Museum activities.
  • Performs opening and closing procedures of Museum gallery and coverage of Volunteer Gallery Host responsibilities as necessary.
  • Maintains and stays current on all writings/publications about Estes Park history.
  • Sets up/takes down furniture for programs.
  • Performs related work as required and assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Preferred:
    • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in leadership or supervisory role with at least one year in supervising or managing a small team.
    • Three (3) years experience in a public education position or related position.
  • Licenses, Certifications and Registrations
    • Current Colorado Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record.

    • Demonstrated ability to model teamwork, collaboration and organization values in developing and sustaining effective working relationships with staff, colleagues, and community members.
