The School Counselor helps students attain an optimum level of personal and social adjustment. In order to coordinate a comprehensive counseling program, the secondary education Counselor must work closely with the other staff and administration.
Advocates for students and provides and assesses interventions to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program that fosters achievement for all students. Provides assistance to children in making educational, occupational, and life plans that increase the probability of students becoming mature and responsible decision-makers who enjoy a high degree of personal fulfillment. Provide direct and indirect counseling services to children who are exhibiting symptoms of social, emotional, and/or academic difficulties that interfere with their academic or social progress.
Develops, promotes, and maintains good relationships with community members and co-workers.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- Current authorization or license issued by the State of Colorado indicating s/he is properly endorsed.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
