Job Description
The adjunct faculty members of Colorado Mountain College assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available that complement the teaching process. Faculty members are committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities. While teaching is the primary role, faculty also engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities to support all students and extend academic opportunities in diverse classroom settings.
Colorado Mountain College offers associate and bachelor’s degrees with a focus on positive classroom experiences and excellent outcomes for all students.
- Minimum of a master’s degree in a field related to the position or an equivalent; requires at least 18 graduate credits in the specific discipline.
- Credentialed to teach in the specific program or eligible to be credentialed.
- At least one year of full‑time teaching experience as an adjunct instructor or equivalent.
- Higher education teaching experience preferred.
- Teaching experience equating to two years of pedagogy and instructional practice.
- Strong background in computers and educational technology.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn, research, analyze data, and work independently toward goals.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
Teaching responsibilities include teaching the assigned course load, evaluating courses and assessing student learning, meeting established program and learning outcomes, maintaining office hours, developing rapport with students, advising, and participating in registration activities. Faculty members engage in scholarly and creative activities, service activities such as committees, mentoring peers, and participating in assessment, program review, and student organization initiatives. All faculty acknowledge that final payment may be withheld until submission of grades.
Faculty represent the college professionally, maintain accurate course records, and participate in professional development as required for credentialing.
- To teach classes as assigned by designated supervisor.
- To prepare appropriate lesson plans for each course in accordance with approved course objectives.
- To develop and submit course outlines and syllabi to appropriate supervisor.
- To assist with development of measurable course objectives and plans.
- To develop a relationship with students & staff that is professional and encourages teacher/student communication.
- To maintain accurate course records of students and complete course forms as required.
- Be available for student consultation.
- To assist in the recruitment of students, as appropriate.
- When agreed upon, and as appropriate, to assist in the evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance.
- To represent the college in a professional manner throughout the communities and college district by promoting a positive public image.
- To engage in professional development as required for credentialing.
