Terms of Employment
Full-time, 220 days (Depending on start date). Salary is based on education and experience and will be prorated per our Admin/Prof Tech Salary Schedule ($79,570 – $97,212). The District provides its employees with a comprehensive benefits program including medical, life, and dental insurance. The District provides two medical plans for which it pays the full premium for employees, and a third option is a buy-up plan for which the district pays the majority of the premium.
In addition, the District pays the full employee premium for dental insurance and life insurance. The District contributes to PERA on each employee's behalf and offers additional retirement savings options as well as optional supplemental insurance. Employees also receive paid time off. Worker’s compensation and unemployment insurance are provided in accordance with State law.
Position Purpose
The Coordinator of Special Education supports the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of the district's special education programs and services. This position ensures compliance with state and federal laws (IDEA, Section 504, ADA), supports building leaders and case managers, and collaborates with families and community partners to provide high-quality educational experiences for students with disabilities. The Coordinator serves as a key resource for schools in the development of IEPs, specialized instruction, service delivery models, and procedural safeguards.

Program Leadership & Oversight- Supports the Executive Director of Special Education in implementing district wide systems, procedures, and programs that ensure compliance with IDEA and state regulations
- Monitors program quality, instructional practices, and service delivery
- Assists in the development and revision of special education policies, procedures, forms, and documentation
- Provides technical assistance to case managers and administrators on IEP development, reevaluation procedures, and documentation requirements
- Conducts audits of IEPs and special education files to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Supports schools with manifestation determinations, disciplinary processes, and eligibility decisions
- Works closely with principals, Special Education Teachers, and service providers to support inclusive practices
- Serves as a point of contact for parents, offering communication and conflict-resolution support
- Collaborates with outside agencies and community partners
- Plans and delivers professional learning for special education teachers and related service providers
- Supports onboarding and mentoring of new staff
- Provides coaching to improve instructional practices
- Assists in staffing plans, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Supports evaluations, walkthroughs, and performance feedback
- Assists with recruitment and hiring recommendations
Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Supports collection and analysis of special education data
- Prepares required documentation for state and federal reporting
- Assists in developing action plans to improve student outcomes
