Job Description
Colorado Mountain College invites qualified adjunct faculty members to enhance student learning through effective instruction, scholarly engagement, and service activities.
Primary ResponsibilityThe faculty member serves as a facilitator of learning by employing appropriate instructional resources, technology, and expertise to support student success across diverse classroom settings.
Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)Eligibility: Candidates must be credentialed to teach in the specific program or eligible to be credentialed. Minimum of a master’s degree in the related field with at least 18 graduate credits. One-year full‑time teaching experience or equivalent adjunct experience preferred.
Special
Skills:
Knowledge of pedagogy and two years of teaching experience, strong background in computers, excellent organizational skills, general office skills, communication and interpersonal skills, willingness to learn, ability to research, analyze data, work independently.
Bilingual English/Spanish or conversational language abilities preferred.
Minimum QualificationsApplicants must be residents of Colorado and authorized to work in the United States without future sponsorship. Must possess transcripts showing a bachelor’s degree in the specified disciplines.
Essential DutiesTeaching responsibilities include course load assignment, evaluation of courses, assessment of student learning, compliance with course outcomes, maintenance of office hours, development of student rapport, advising participation, orientation, and registration activities.
- Teach classes as assigned.
- Prepare lesson plans aligned with course objectives.
- Develop and submit course outlines and syllabi.
- Assist in developing measurable course objectives and plans.
- Build professional relationships with students & staff encouraging communication.
- Maintain accurate course records and complete required forms.
- Provide student consultation.
- Assist in student recruitment when appropriate.
- Assist in curriculum evaluation and instructional performance when agreed upon.
- Represent the college professionally promoting a positive public image.
- Engage in professional development as required for credentialing.
The position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee aligned with discipline deans.
Supervisory ResponsibilityMay supervise student employees. Successful completion of a background check required. Adhere to safety and compliance policies. May require travel, evening, weekend hours.
Working ConditionsConstant sitting; occasional walking, standing, driving; frequent reaching with hands/arms; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Work performed using a computer daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
