Sr. Estimator – Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc.

Sturgeon Electric’s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) electrical construction division specializes in large-scale commercial electrical projects, integrating Integrated Lean Project Delivery, pre‑construction services, in‑house pre‑fabrication, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities. The Sr. Estimator plays a pivotal role in maintaining competitiveness, profitability, and growth while cultivating relationships with internal and external customers.

• Prepare complete labor and material cost estimates.
• Outline and prepare responses to RFPs and RFQs.
• Follow company SOPs for estimating.
• Develop strategies for winning projects.
• Maintain and develop the estimating database.
• Build and sustain client relationships.
• Assist colleagues with cost estimates and bid package preparation.
• Review and evaluate estimating staff performance.
• Act as a first point of contact for the estimating team.
• Coordinate with Project Management.
• Maintain bid log and report to corporate.
• Prepare bills of material for Purchasing.
• Determine constructability requirements via field walk‑downs with customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel.
• Compare project documents for accuracy and consistency; handle data entry.
• Perform field take‑offs and evaluations for estimate preparation.
• Participate in estimate review with internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding cost estimates.
• Prepare and submit change orders.
• Follow up at project completion to close estimating loops, inclusive of invoicing and cost tracking.
• Perform duties primarily in a company‑designated office or field location.
• Potentially manage the Estimating and BIM departments.
• Handle additional duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Comply with the company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry‑specific professional and ethical standards.

• Minimum 5 years of electrical construction estimating experience.

• Knowledge of current local and national electrical codes (NEC).
• Working knowledge of local electrical codes.
• Ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, and other plans and specifications, including blueprints, proposals, and related documents.
• Working knowledge of electrical materials and installation methods.
• General knowledge of engineered material costs.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Accubid, and other estimating software.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills.
• Team‑player mentality.
• Self‑driven with the ability to work independently for extended periods.

• Salary: $95,000–$135,000 per year (commensurate with experience; paid weekly).
