Position: Senior Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist – Safety

Position

Description:

This position is responsible for promoting EHS awareness, compliance, and stewardship throughout the organization to all employees. This position is the lead for multiple programs which minimize or eliminate worker safety, environmental, and regulatory risks to Red Willow Production Company. This position is responsible for the development, execution, and training of EHS programs and initiatives. This position will have an emphasis on health and safety aspects and will be the health and safety program lead.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biological Science, Physical Science, Engineering, or a related discipline and ten years of work experience in environmental health and safety, including five years in the oil, gas, or energy industry and five years with a health and safety emphasis
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biological Science, Physical Science, Engineering, or a related discipline and twelve years of work experience in environmental health and safety, including six years in the oil, gas, or energy industry and six years with a health and safety emphasis
  • Associate’s Degree in Science or a related discipline and fourteen years of work experience in environmental health and safety, including seven years in the oil, gas, or energy industry and seven years with a health and safety emphasis

Skills and Experience:

  • Must be able to understand and interpret major regulatory programs and explain their purpose and impact to oil and gas operations, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, RCRA, and OSHA
  • Must be able to understand, interpret, and implement OSHA programs for Construction and General Industry
  • Must have working knowledge of personal protective equipment and field safety equipment
  • Must have working knowledge of safe motor vehicle operation and be willing to lead the Smith Driving Program
  • Must have excellent computer-based data management and analysis skills, including experience establishing EHS database systems for tracking environmental data, compliance-related permits, documents, monitoring reports, and audits
  • Must have field audit and inspection experience, including report generation
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Must have experience leading health and safety audits and inspections
  • Must have experience developing, implementing, reviewing, updating, and training employees and/or contractors on Standard Operating Procedures
  • Must have demonstrated experience with incident investigation, report generation, and action item closure
  • Must have experience and demonstrated skills drafting executive summaries and technical reports
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with coworkers, multi-department teams, contractors, and vendors in both field and office settings
  • Must have experience with permit interpretation, compliance, and reporting
  • Must have working knowledge of Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans
  • Must have experience with EHS training development and delivery
  • Must be willing to assist others, learn new skills, and participate in a productive, team-oriented work environment
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for state of residency and be insurable under the RWPC vehicle insurance policy
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal history background check
