Reservoir Engineer - EGS
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for reservoir engineering evaluations to support world-class exploration, development and operations of enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). An individual in this role will work in a world-class collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment.
Essential Functions:- Maintains a safe work place and takes responsibility for safety with the goal of zero incidents
- Performs a variety of tasks with a capability to work independently or within a team environment. Completes work assignments with limited levels of supervision.
- Acts in a dependable manner and uses sound judgement in all activities.
- Prepares technical insights in a suitable communication method such as reports and presentations with accurate use of company tools, templates and standards
- Manages data and information in a manner that is consistent with company systems and processes
- Works independently on projects and leads activities to achieve timely, measurable and relevant outcomes for the company
- Conducts training internally or externally and acts as a coach or mentor to others in areas of specialized knowledge
- Participates in multi-disciplinary teams for work activities in addition to other periodic requirements such as due-diligence or joint ventures and can act as a primary contact person
- Able to identify, oversee, and evaluate consultants and consultant work products for implementation within EGS development projects
- Actively works to innovate and improve company tools, systems and processes and ensures clear understanding of external best-practices
- Possesses a high willingness to apply novel analysis techniques to subsurface development, and engage with cutting-edge research to improve the company's EGS development program.
- Design tests and analyze results of tests to quantify rock mechanical properties
- Collaborate with geomechanics and completions engineers to design stimulation programs aligned with EGS development goals
- Analyze performance of EGS doublet throughout the project life cycle, diagnose problems, plan remedial action, and assist with permitting and execution of the work
- Evaluate effects of corrective actions or changes in field operations, power generation revenue and long-term resource performance
- Collect and analyze reservoir data, analyze well logs and well tests, characterize natural and hydraulic fractures and develop reservoir conceptual models
- Assist with the design of reservoir and fracture models. Use models to design stimulation and optimize EGS doublet operations.
- Design and implement well tests including surface and subsurface pump installations, surface separation vessels, chemical inhibition, and surface conveyances
- Oversee the installation, set-up, and operations of tests and testing equipment as needed
- Work with operations personnel, Geologists and Project Managers to formulate and justify recommendations for wellfield activities and reservoir management
- Responsible for planning and specifying logs and diagnostic procedures for EGS doublets throughout the exploration, development, and operations lifecycle
- Responsible for the design, specifying, and monitoring of pumps for pumped production wells
- Responsible for the planning, engineering, supervision, analysis and reporting of routine well logs and tests
- Document analyses, interpretations of logs, well tests, diagnostic procedures and results of work overs, drilling and other changes in operations
- Work with plant, field operations and IT personnel to maintain the quality and completeness of well data base and testing and operating records
- Provide pertinent data and analyses to consultants and incorporate their results
- Other duties and projects as assigned by management
Skills Required:
- Must possess Master of Science or Engineering in a relevant subject. A Doctorate degree in a relevant subject is advantageous.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the industry or related fields, generally with 5 to 20 years of experience.
- Must have experience designing and interpreting fracture diagnostic tests including but not limited to formation leak-off/extended leak-off tests, diagnostic fracture injection tests (DFIT), Minifrac/fracture calibration tests, and flowback tests
- Must have experience modeling and designing hydraulic fracturing and stimulation programs.
