OverviewThis position supports the effective and efficient delivery of financial services across all district departments, including administration of and compliance with all related district policies and state and federal laws, as well as short‑ and long‑range financial planning. The role reports directly to the CFO and supervises the accounts payable and finance positions.
Primary Duties- Leadership and Management:
Attend leadership meetings, make recommendations, and present finance‑related topics; provide training and coaching to school and department leaders regarding district financial policies and procedures. - Annual Audits and Financial Statements:
Prepare and review PBC schedules, footnote disclosures, Management Discussion & Analysis supporting documentation, and audited financial statements. - Financial Planning and Budgeting:
Manage and participate in the development and implementation of the goals and objectives of the strategic plan, ensuring alignment of the annual budget to the priorities of the plan; support the annual budget development process and stakeholders. - Student Activity Funds:
Develop, implement, and monitor accounting procedures and controls for school activity funds and guide staff in regulatory responsibilities. - Policies, Procedures and Internal Controls:
Design, develop, and implement internal controls, training, and monitoring; update policies to comply with federal and state requirements. - Other Accounting and Finance Duties:
Collaborate with payroll, budget, benefits, operations, and customer service teams; maintain fixed‑asset records; assist with accounting software updates; research governmental accounting standards.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Governmental accounting practices, auditing, reporting, coding, balancing accounting records, and business writing.
- Proficiency with Google Docs, spreadsheets, and Excel.
- Audit, reconcile and balance accounts.
- Analyze problems, identify alternatives, project consequences, and implement recommendations.
- Prepare clear and concise reports and maintain accurate records.
- Interpret and apply district policies and procedures.
- Operate modern office equipment and software.
- Communicate clearly orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Organize and analyze complex information with attention to detail.
- Multi‑task and manage several high‑priority projects.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Experience in a governmental accounting setting preferred.
- Experience preparing audited financial statements preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting;
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Office environment; exposure to computer screens. Primary functions may require prolonged sitting and keyboard use. Occasional travel between sites.
Salary Range and Days WorkedSalary range: $ – $, depending on experience. Exempt employee status.
Work schedule:
Monday‑Friday, 8+ hours per day. 252 days per year, including paid personal time, vacation, and holidays.
