Overview
The Town of Buena Vista (pop. 3,000) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Town Clerk. Located in the Upper Arkansas River Valley in the central mountains of Colorado, Buena Vista is known for its recreational amenities, beautiful views, historic character, and working-class roots. More recently it has attracted the attention of second homeowners, early retirees, telecommuters, artisans, entrepreneurs, and others drawn to the quality of life that the community offers.

As one of the foundational roles in local government, the Town Clerk is key to ensuring transparent and efficient government operations and maintaining public trust in municipal processes. The Town Clerk makes and keeps an accurate record of all of the official acts of the Board of Trustees, and acts as custodian of the Town seal and Town records. Incumbent is required to attend after-hours governmental meetings on a regular schedule.
The next Town Clerk, under the direction of the Town Administrator, provides direction, leadership, and general oversight of the Town’s Clerks Office housed in the historic Town Hall located on Main Street, understanding that Buena Vista is its own unique community, with its own disparate social and political dynamics. Other responsibilities will include a variety of supervisory, technical, and administrative tasks such as:
- Board & meeting management
- Elections administration
- Licensing & records management
- Business & short-term rental licensing
- Cemetery administration
- Public interaction & customer service
The Town Clerk will be a member of the Town’s leadership team and will work alongside other professionals who are passionate about the community.

Starting Salary Range: $72,000 - $84,000 annually plus benefits
